I wanted the guest list to be completed early on, because I knew it would affect ordering favors, invitations, and thank-you cards. Since my family is so large, I knew right from the beginning that we would have a long wedding guest list. Luckily, this didn’t make the wedding too expensive because Brian’s family happens to be tiny. So they kind of balanced each other out!

Choosing our reception site was definitely a long process. It was a big project, but the second we signed the contract I felt relieved. The reception venue is such a large chunk of the wedding planning, and it’s nice to get it out of the way as soon as possible. I was very happy with my choice.

Our BBQ Wedding Reception With a Bang - No Better Ending To Our Wedding Day!

After our wedding ceremony was over, we had cake and punch with all of our guests at my grandmother’s house. This gathering was nice, but it was not our actual wedding reception. We invited our very closest friends and family members to my sister’s house and had a traditional fourth of July barbecue planned for the evening, the perfect alternative to a lavish budget-busting wedding reception.
