Our Sand Unity Jar, Symbolizing the Joining of Both of Our Families

Using a unity candle was not an option for us in an outdoor wedding where any small summer breeze would make keeping the wicks lit a real chore. So as an alternative to the unity candle we decided that we were going to use a sand unity jar. It was a very special way to involve the kids in our ceremony and was a great way to symbolize the joining of both of our families.

As a mother, I have learned that there is a whole list of possibilities that you cannot plan for when children are involved. That list of possibilities have come to pass at all kinds of events. So I did plan for something to go wrong during the ceremony with the kids… but it was like a ticking time bomb… I did not know ahead of time what it would be or when it would happen.

How Our Wedding Music Selection Set The Romantic and Intimate Mood For Our Ceremony

When it came to picking out our wedding music I did not want to use the traditional wedding march. Nothing in our wedding planning thus far has been traditional…why would we start now? The music that we chose for our wedding helped to set the romantic and intimate mood for our ceremony. I felt that using CDs as opposed to live music was a great option for our budget and the setting for our small family wedding.
