10 Years Later … Would I Do Anything Differently?
As I write this post I am less than a month away from my tenth wedding anniversary. Looking back I was wondering if there is anything that I would have done differently. Besides looking out for the things I mentioned in my other posts like choosing a better photographer, I don’t think I would have changed a thing.
Our Wedding Night on the Banks of a Canal
Justin and I did not want to leave on our honeymoon the very next day after the wedding. Several friends and family members had flown in to share our special day and we wanted to stay in town to visit with them.
Flowers, Invitations, and the Icing on the Cake
When it came to picking flowers and decorations, we didn’t have a theme in mind so much as a feeling. So far with the dresses and tuxes we had a black and white color scheme going. I could still pick any other color to go with it and it would still work. We just wanted a feeling of simple elegance and decided to stay with the main palette of white.
A Stylish Getaway in Gorgeous Vintage Mustang Cars
One of the most fun ideas we came up with for our wedding day, had to do with the vehicles we would use to get from the church to the reception. Instead of going with the traditional limousine we were lucky enough to have a different option.
Our Wedding Reception - We Ate, We Laughed, We Danced
Our wedding reception was a nice non-stuffy affair held at the local police lodge. We had around 175 guests who were a lovely mix of people from our pasts and present. We got to see everyone from out of town friends and family, to teachers from our middle school days… it was great! It was such a whirlwind, I wish there was actually more time to interact with our guests.
Finding My Wedding Dress - For Less Than 500.00 Shipped Right To My Door
Ok, everybody else has pretty clothes for the wedding. I had better find a wedding dress for me. One thing I never understood about buying a wedding dress was alterations. On top of the fact that I did not want to spend thousands on a wedding dress that I was only going to wear once, I also did not want to spend a hundred or two for alterations.
Buying Attire For Our Wedding Party - Bucking Tradition
We now have six attractive people to dress up for our special day, what shall we make them wear? The tradition for most people is to have their attendant pay for the dresses and tuxedo rental. While this would add to our budget, I had to buck tradition.
Hiring a Wedding Photographer… One of the Few Blemishes on an Otherwise Perfect Day!
After the groom himself, hiring a wedding photographer was probably the most important wedding planning detail to me. I thought I was lucky that I did not have to track down a good photographer since my friend had already found a good one. As it would turn out later, I was not quite as lucky as I thought I was. It was one of the few blemishes on an otherwise perfect wedding day.
You’re Getting Married in Six Months? Are You Pregnant or Crazy?
Justin and I had been dating for about 6 months when he asked me to marry him and I said yes, neither of us saw the point in long engagements. For some reason when you tell your family or friends that you are getting married in six months, the first thing they ask is “Why, are you pregnant?”… NO, I am not pregnant, now back to the good news… WE ARE GETTING MARRIED… in sixth months! Oh my, what was I thinking. I have got a lot of planning to do!
From a Modern Beginning to a Fairytale Ending
One night I was up late surfing the internet just trying to relax and I decided to see who was currently online in my city, the search returned only one name. I sent this person an IM just saying “Hi” … little did I know that I was starting a ball rolling that would eventually roll right down the aisle! I will be sharing our story of a short engagement, planning a lovely wedding in only 6 months, and our point of view as we approach our tenth anniversary.
