Oh No! Legal Wedding Paperwork

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

I was a little intimidated by all the paperwork surrounding my marriage. To ease the worry, I ordered a Name Change Kit. Turns out, I didn’t even need all of its guidance, but it definitely helped. It took a long time to be officially known by everyone as Mrs. Hilton, and even longer before I remembered to call myself Mrs. Hilton. But at least it will keep me married – I’m not jumping through all those name change hoops again!

My Wedding Gown Accessories on a Budget

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Included in my budget for a wedding dress were all the things I would need to go along with it. Luckily, I got away with spending very little on my wedding gown accessories. I don’t feel like I sacrified for quality, either - which makes a bride on a budget very happy!

Our Unique Wedding Vows - For Our Eyes Only

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Brian and I decided from the very beginning that we wanted to write our own wedding vows. Along the way, we both began to feel a little nervous about reciting our wedding vows in front of so many people. After all, they were very private words and feelings. So we decided to do the traditional vows at the wedding and just give each other the vows we had written.

Not Hiring a Wedding Videographer, One of The Few Things That I Would Happily Change

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Since we had spent so much money on the photographer, I decided quickly that I did not want to hire a videographer for the wedding. I thought to myself, “How often are we going to sit and watch a video of the wedding?” If I could go back, I would do things differently.

My Two Wedding Showers, My Favorite Wedding Events

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

I was lucky enough to have two wedding showers! My church threw me one, and my maids of honor, mom, and mother-in-law threw me another one. My wedding showers were one of my favorite wedding events. I didn’t have to do any planning, I got presents, and I was surrounded by loved ones!

Avoid Being a Bridezilla - Stay in Perspective

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

I received several compliments during the wedding planning process that I was easy to deal with. And after hearing and reading about Bridezillas on television shows and in articles, I realized how glad I was that I had not turned into a monster. So what is the magical key to my pleasant demeanor?

Finding The Perfect Wedding Bands

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Neither Brian nor myself are into flashy jewelry, and we weren’t interested in spending a ton of money on wedding bands. Our budget wouldn’t really allow us to have to make payments on any jewelry, so we started seeking inexpensive but quality options.

Wedding Responsibilities: Who Does What?

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Since almost everyone in our wedding party had never been in a wedding before, I was a little concerned that no one would be aware of their responsibilities. I didn’t want to seem like a psycho bride by emailing attachments of responsibility lists to everyone in our bridal party, but I had to find a way to make sure everyone was aware of what they needed to do.

Choosing Our Wedding Reception DJ - Easy Decision

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

I never really thought about the possibility of having a band play at my reception, because I already knew a DJ I wanted to use. My cousin’s husband, Steve, is a professional DJ for events. He had done some family weddings already so I was familiar with his work. Next to the cake, this was one of the first vendors we got for our wedding.

Important Questions To Ask Wedding Vendors

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Since I knew virtually nothing about wedding planning when I started the process, I relied a lot on the internet and articles to guide me. And when it came time to meet with wedding vendors, I found myself informed and prepared with all of the questions I needed to ask.
