Choosing Our Wedding Favors - Jordan Almonds In Heart Shaped Favor Boxes

Monday, September 8th, 2008

I decided that I wanted to somehow give candy as my wedding favor. I wanted something that males and females would both enjoy, so giving candles didn’t seem appropriate. I also came across other cute options, like mini photo frames or salt and pepper shakers. But since there were a lot of couples and families coming, I knew it would be pointless to give these items to every member of one family.

Choosing Our Wedding Cake - Fun and a Lot of Sampling!

Friday, September 5th, 2008

We lucked out when it came to our wedding cake - Brian’s aunt makes wedding cakes professionally. She was one of the first vendors we knew we were going to use, which was a great feeling. I really enjoyed being able to check something off of my to-do list without even having to do anything!

Registering For Wedding Gifts - Tons of Fun for Us!

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

I love presents, so I have naturally always dreamed of the day I would be able to register for wedding gifts! Brian and I spent a whole weekend on registering, and it was tons of fun for us. I wanted to pick stores that had locations nationwide, as well as stores that had options for online ordering. Since we have family all over the country, it was important to be flexible.

Making Our Own Wedding Invitations - Not All That Difficult And Time-Consuming

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Similar to my wedding flowers experience, I decided to try my hand at making wedding invitations myself. It would have been easier to pay someone else to do our wedding invitations, but the process wasn’t all that difficult. And it didn’t take up too much of our time.

Making My Own Wedding Flower Arrangements

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

When I got quotes from a few local florists, I found that it would cost me over a thousand dollars to get fresh flowers for my wedding. Since this was simply not something I could afford, I began to think about using silk flowers for my wedding day.

Our Wedding Food Buffet - Variety of Tastes

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Since the reception site I had chosen did not allow outside catering, I did not have to try to choose a caterer. Luckily, Club Monte Carlo has phenomenal food! We were given a list of catering packages to choose from. We tried to select things that would appeal to a variety of tastes, as well as making sure our own favorite dishes were represented!

Wedding Ceremony Site, Officiant, and Religious Requirements

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Since I knew I wanted to get married in the church I grew up in, we were able to avoid the search for a ceremony site. The church came with the Pastor I had also grown up knowing, so it was one less decision to make for us!

Creating Our Wedding Guest List - Be Organized and Set Aside Guidelines For Yourself

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

I wanted the guest list to be completed early on, because I knew it would affect ordering favors, invitations, and thank-you cards. Since my family is so large, I knew right from the beginning that we would have a long wedding guest list. Luckily, this didn’t make the wedding too expensive because Brian’s family happens to be tiny. So they kind of balanced each other out!

Choosing Our Wedding Reception Venue - Long Process Before I Found The One I Fell In Love With

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Choosing our reception site was definitely a long process. It was a big project, but the second we signed the contract I felt relieved. The reception venue is such a large chunk of the wedding planning, and it’s nice to get it out of the way as soon as possible. I was very happy with my choice.

Choosing Our Wedding Date - Giving Up My Fall Wedding Dream

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

I had always wanted a fall wedding. Fall is my favorite season (as well as Brian’s), and I had always thought that the decorative options for fall weddings were gorgeous. Since I am very close to my out of state family members, I knew that a summer wedding would allow me to spend more time with them.
