My Wedding Dress - From Imperfect to Perfect

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Most brides to be would wait to pick out their wedding dress until after the official engagement. But, I’ve never been a girl to do things like other people. There was just one issue that needed to be overcome to get the official engagement. Funds were tight for Billy and he wanted to be able to get me a nice engagement ring. So, he needed to save for a little while. Well, that didn’t stop me from finding my perfect wedding dress.

Pew Buckets - A Different Take on Pew Decorations

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

I’ve never been a good bow maker, and I didn’t want to pay the high price that people charge for pew bows. I also didn’t want to have to deal with hoping I wouldn’t smash the bows, so I went a different route. I made pew buckets. I based the design on Martha Stewart’s pew buckets that I found on her website.

Selecting Gifts For Our Wedding Gift Registry

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

One of the most fun activities of getting married is selecting the gifts that people will purchase for you. After I graduated from college, I moved back in with my mother until Billy and I got married… this was six years of time. When I went off to college I had all hand-me-down pans, towels and more. But, now I was going to get married. I would get new, neat things. How exciting!!

Selecting Our Wedding Music… An Important Task

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

As a harpist that has played for weddings for many years, I knew that selecting the right wedding ceremony music was an important task. One disadvantage was that I wouldn’t have a harp at my own wedding. A friend of the family for many years was asked to play the piano.

Choosing My Favorite Colors Celadon and Lilac Purple As Wedding Colors

Monday, September 15th, 2008

One very common question we were asked was… What are your wedding colors? The color scheme you pick out says a lot about you. Since our wedding was in April, we went with spring-like colors. Spring-like colors, in my opinion, give a feeling of newness… what is new to come. Perfect for a wedding where you will start a new life. The colors we chose were celadon and lilac purple. These just happen to be my two favorite colors.

Picking Out Our Wedding Flowers - Calla Lilies, Hydrangeas, Stephanotis

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Flowers can be one of the biggest expenses for a wedding. My mother and I went to a few different florists in town and had huge estimates of what the bill would be. I knew this wouldn’t work. We ended up finding a florist in a small town nearby that was more reasonable on prices, but even then we couldn’t afford all we wanted.

Creating Our Unique Wedding Guest Book

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

I really enjoyed creating our wedding guest book. I wanted to remember who came to our wedding and what they looked like instead of just what their signature looked like. So, what better way to remember than to take their picture? My guest registry attendant, a college friend, had a big job to do. Not only did she need to get people to sign in the book, but she had to take their picture too.

Choosing The Bridal Party and Other Helpers

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Determining the people that will share your day with you is a very important task. My fiancé, Billy, and I discussed it quite extensively. I knew from the time that I was young that my older sister would be my maid/matron of honor. So, that was easy. Billy on the other hand had several people he had on the list to include.

Creating My Own Wedding Invitations in 3 Steps

Friday, August 29th, 2008

One of the most creative ideas I had for our wedding was creating our own wedding invitations. I had been to a few bridal supply stores in town that specialized in invitations and just wasn’t impressed with what I saw. Plus, once everything was ordered it would be quite expensive. So, I decided to make my own wedding invitations.

Planning My Wedding Day - Fun Time In My Life But It Was a Challenge For Sure

Friday, August 29th, 2008

I’m a pretty organized person so I was able to pull off wedding plans in a short amount of time. I would not recommend this to everyone though unless you want gray hair on your wedding day. All in all it was a fun time in my life to plan one of the most important days, but it was a challenge for sure.
