Choosing The Perfect Attendant Attire For Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, Flower Girls and Ringbearer
What’s prettier than a picture of a well-dressed bridal party? Here is how we dealt with the attendant attire for the bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls and ringbearer.
♦ Bridesmaids
Searching for bridesmaid dresses was one of the most headache-inducing tasks of my wedding. I spent hours with my two maids of honor, searching the mall and nearby stores for hunter green dresses. When we turned up empty handed and changed the dress color to midnight blue, it got a little easier. We each went on the David’s Bridal website and, luckily, all chose the same style as our favorite.
The design on the dress was similar to that of my wedding dress, so we thought the two dresses would compliment each other well. It was important to me that the dress came in all sizes, since my attendants were of varying sizes and shapes. This dress was perfect. A quick trip to David’s Bridal so my maid of honor Lindsey could try it on, and the decision was made. I passed on the ordering information for all of the girls.
This part was a little stressful for me. I had one bridesmaid living in New York, and I was nervous about her ordering her dress since I was not around to remind her. She ordered it on time, thankfully. I also had a couple other girls in troublesome financial situations, but everything was worked out and all the dresses arrived on time and in the perfect sizes.
♦ Groom & Groomsmen
Choosing the groomsmen attire was easy. Brian and I ventured to President Tuxedo and the saleswoman there was very helpful. She simply asked Brian what he wanted in terms of shoes, shirts, vests, ties, and tuxedo coats and pants. For every decision to be made, she presented him with all of the options. Brian made quick and cost-efficient decisions. I was proud and relieved!
We chose silver for the vest and tie colors, because it was a neutral color that would look well with the bridesmaid dresses. We also chose black for Brian’s vest and tie, to make him stand out from the other men and to match me better.
♦ Flower Girls & Ring Bearer
For the flower girls, we chose inexpensive white dresses from a local dress shop. Since there were three flower girls, two that were sisters, I wanted the dresses to be a great deal. They were approximately thirty dollars each, which was a great bargain.
My nephew was the “ring bearer” in my wedding. Since he was only nine months old at the time, he didn’t actually carry any rings. In fact, the flower girls pushed him in a silver/grey canvas stroller I found at Babies R Us for only twenty dollars!
Brian and I bought tulle and white flowers to decorate the stroller with, and it turned out beautiful. My nephew just wore a simple grey outfit for his trip up and down the aisle, since I knew he would probably be getting it messy at the reception!
With all of the bridal wear shops out there, it is so easy to coordinate your wedding party! It is also really easy to find great deals on dresses and tuxedo rentals, especially if you search for promotions and deals!
