Choosing Pink and Green as Wedding Colors … Perfect Combination For Our Garden Wedding
Robert was like most men in that he scoffed at me when I asked for his assistance in choosing the wedding colors. He typified most grooms, in that he did not understand that the colors of the wedding impact the majority of purchases that I needed to make for our ceremony. It was going to affect the flowers, the cake, the decor, the favors, clothing, and much more. Yes to him they may have seemed like simple color selections… but as a bride, I knew that these colors meant so much more.
My belief is that the color palette for any wedding should reflect both your personality and your surroundings. Since we were planning a fourth of July outdoor wedding we had a few options for our wedding color selections.
Pink and Blue to note each of Robert and Mine, favorite colors. And in case you were worried, yes mine would be the pink. Blue and Green. This was Robert’s choice… Blue for the sky and Green for the grass… see why he did not take this seriously? Red, White, and Blue to make note of the patriotic day that we had chosen to exchange our nuptials.
In the end, I did not use any of these options… I felt that the Red, White, and Blue was a little over the top and cheesy for our intimate and romantic ceremony. The favorite color choice of pink and blue made me feel like we were planning a baby shower… and I did not want to confuse or concern anyone.
I chose instead to take the wedding colors from the details on the flower girl’s dresses. Their white dresses had small pink and green details that looked really pretty together. I felt that the combination of these two colors was very elegant and very appropriate for a summer outdoors wedding.
We implemented this color scheme in many ways, such as having beautiful pink details placed on our wedding cake and a lovely pink centerpiece made.
We also added other smaller touches. The flower girl threw out pink petals during the ceremony, Bob wore a green tie that matched the color on the girls dresses, the flowers that were carried by the girls were pink with green details, and the ring bearers wore matching green shirts and ties.
The pink and green wedding colors coordinated perfectly with the surrounding of our wedding too. Since we got married in the garden at my grandmother’s house where there was an abundance of green foliage and pink blooms that surrounded us and our guests, I could not have coordinated it any better if tried again. It was picture perfect.
