Choosing My Favorite Colors Celadon and Lilac Purple As Wedding Colors

One very common question we were asked was… What are your wedding colors? The color scheme you pick out says a lot about you. Since our wedding was in April, we went with spring-like colors. Spring-like colors, in my opinion, give a feeling of newness… what is new to come. Perfect for a wedding where you will start a new life.

The wedding colors we chose were celadon (a sage green color) and lilac purple. These just happen to be my two favorite colors. Also, I wore an ivory dress. From this we knew what colors our flowers would be. The hydrangea potted plants we picked were light green and lilac. In mine and my sister’s bouquets we had these colors throughout.

We knew what colors our wedding invitations would be. Our cardstock paper was celadon with lilac hydrangea envelopes. We knew what colors our decorations would be… you guessed it… celadon, lilac and ivory.

We also knew what our bridal party would be wearing. My sister, who has green eyes, looked very pretty in the celadon dress she wore. My grandmother and my soon-to-be step-mother-in-law wore lilac. My mother wore celadon. My niece, who served as the flower girl, looked especially cute in her frilly, lilac dress.

We even knew what colors our guests would be more inclined to wear. I had three guests that showed up in the exact same outfit… all pretty dresses in celadon green.

They didn’t plan this… it just happened. The guests were my mother, my great-aunt and Billy’s second cousin. I ended up calling them my three senior bridesmaids.

Luckily our colors were pretty easy to find … in slight variations at least for all our accessories. Several items that we received that we didn’t register for were in celadon and lilac colors. I guess people knew that if we picked these colors for our wedding, we surely must like them.

It’s nice having these colors around our house as a reminder of our wedding… all in ivory, celadon and lilac. I’m very glad I still like these colors!
