Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff!

He Caught a Keeper I’ve heard it my whole life… “don’t sweat the small stuff”. Never before has that adage come into play as truly as it does now!

As we get closer to W-day, we are forced to make increasingly more detailed choices. Gone are the simple planning days. In their place are weeks of intense decisions and deadlines.

That’s where the “don’t sweat the small stuff” comes in. We’re trying to train ourselves now to not worry about every last detail, because in the grand scheme of things no one will know that we picked invitation A over invitation B or color 1 over color 2.

We know that not everything is going to go as planned and as long as we have a good attitude about it, it’ll work out… and make for a great story later on! We’ve already had our share of obstacles to deal with, and think we’re handled everything wonderfully so far!

When we had to move the wedding date up two months, we rolled with it and it’s working out well so far. When the newspaper misspelled Kyle’s dad’s name, we laughed it off. When the organist found out she couldn’t play for our wedding, we asked my niece’s music teacher. When we couldn’t go to Africa because of the date change, we decided to go to Disney World and stay in the Animal Kingdom.

My point is that we didn’t just flip out and become a Bridezilla or Groomzilla. And we aren’t wasting hours upon hours on little details like making sure that my bridesmaid dresses exactly match the yellow on the invitations.

Instead we realized that the details aren’t always what’s important. Our marriage is! If anyone really has a problem with my cake or the color of my bridesmaids dresses, oh well! I’ll be too busy being in love with my husband!
