Finding a Wedding Officiant For The Fourth of July… Harder Than You Think!
We had a date, we had a location, but we did not have a wedding officiant to make our Fourth of July nuptials legal and official. I wanted to make sure we had all the important things in place before we sent out invitations and started ordering everything.
We quickly discovered that finding an officiant for a holiday ceremony was harder than we thought it would be… and we were afraid we would have to change our date yet again because of our lack of minister. The minister at our church was not able to do the ceremony for personal reasons. My brother who is a minister lives about eight hours away and his wife was expecting their first child and having some complications with the pregnancy. There are not really a justice of the peace in our area of Missouri, so we were getting worried.
I am a computer geek, therefore, I have a firm believe that the answer to almost any problem can be googled or searched in some form or capacity… so I set out to find the answer to my lack of minister on the net. My theory held up because I found my answer in the website canalopeweddings.com. This is a service that matches your date and area to ministers in the same area who would be able to perform your ceremony for you.
The fees that they charge are based upon a basic rate, distance of travel that is required, and an extra $50 charge for holiday dates. You have the option to reserve your minister for both a rehearsal and the wedding service or just for the service.
We were able to read about various ministers avaliable in our area and then select the ones that we thought would work best for us, we were even able to speak to them on the phone and get a feel for them and their style prior to booking our wedding and paying our deposit.
The minister that we chose was wonderful! He did a great job of working with us to help our vision for our ceremony come to life. He stayed in communication with us via both email and telephone and made sure that we were all on the same page for the wedding day. Robert and I wanted to make our ceremony personalized and unique and our minister was very encouraging of our ideas.
He arrived early at the service and gave us a chance to visit with him face to face before the service, everything that he did was professional and friendly. I really appreciated the way he made the whole event come together.
In my research I found another service weddingministers.com that claims to help you find an officiant for your wedding ceremony. I personally have no experience with this site, since I hit gold the first time with finding the perfect minister for our service.
If you are having trouble finding a wedding officiant for your ceremony check out any of the sites I mentioned, they may be the solution that you are searching for.
