Let Me Introduce Myself and My Wedding Story
Ours is not a typical love story, it is one of overcoming obstacles and true love conquering all!
I was a recently singled mother who had been hurt and Robert was a single dad who was struggling to just keep his head above water. When I met Robert, my three young children were ages, 4, 3, and 1 and I was not looking for love, only a handyman to come and fix a problem with my town house’s ventilation system, I am not a person who should be allowed to use a drill or hammer.
When he came over that day to do the work… there was an instant spark, we flirted a little, but he left and I thought I would probably never see him again. However, I was surprised to see him pull up to my house two days later under the pretexts that he thought he might have left his hammer in the vent he was working on. (The man’s equivalent to a girl leaving behind her purse.)
I thought it was hilarious… we began a friendship that consisted of many phone conversations and the occasional home repair favor. There was a definite attraction between the two of us but it was several months before our relationship got romantic.
I thought he must be crazy to take on not only me but my three children as well… but he was like my night in shining armor, I feel in love with him quickly and we began making plans to start our new family life together.
“The planning process for our wedding got lengthed by some unforeseen events including a sickness in the family… but it all taught me a powerful lesson, you can’t plan the perfect wedding… something will go wrong… you have to plan for the marriage instead. Now that the day is behind us and lives only in memories and photographs… I am very pleased with the choices that we made and the life that we now have together!”
I will be sharing with you the story of our wedding, a small intimate family ceremony held in my grandmother’s garden on the Fourth of July. We wanted to plan a child-friendly service where the kids felt involved while creating memories that will last us a lifetime.
I was so pleased with the way that our small wedding on a small budget turned out and I will make sure to share with you some secrets for cutting costs on your big day! I hope that you enjoy our story, and I hope that you are able to gain a few ideas that you can use and personalize for your ceremony.
