Planning My Wedding Day – Fun Time In My Life But It Was a Challenge For Sure
Planning your wedding day takes some organization. My mother helped me immensely with the wedding plans. My fiancé did too. I knew from that moment that I was a lucky girl to find him. Most fellas would turn and run the other direction.
I had a Word document that I would record all my ideas in, plus a notebook that I carried with me everywhere I went. If I had an idea on the way to work, I would write it down quickly so I wouldn’t forget it. I also used the Word document as we got closer to the wedding date to make the list of everything that had to be done. It was easy to insert responsibilities that had previously been left out and delete them when done.
If you’re like me, when you have your wedding on the brain, there’s not much else that you think about. I also did lots of research on the Internet to see what other people were doing. I obtained a wedding planning book that helped a bunch. The book I had even included a month by month progress check.
I got engaged on Christmas Day 2005 and our wedding was held on April 8, 2006. This wasn’t much time to plan everything, but it all was executed just fine. I’m glad I had help, but too many people helping would have been a nightmare. My mother and fiancé were plenty. If I had another one, I would have had, as the saying goes, ‘too many cooks in the kitchen’. Both were also very willing to let me have my way … smart folks … but helped me think of ideas and carry them out effectively.
We also took quite a bit of time to select the right wedding date. We wanted to make sure it didn’t conflict with our own work schedules and the schedules of people that would be involved. I’m a pretty organized person so I was able to pull off wedding plans in a short amount of time. I would not recommend this to everyone though unless you want gray hair on your wedding day. All in all it was a fun time in my life to plan one of the most important days, but it was a challenge for sure.
