Our Wedding Food Buffet – Variety of Tastes
Since the reception site I had chosen did not allow outside catering, I did not have to try to choose a caterer. Luckily, Club Monte Carlo has phenomenal food! We were given a list of catering packages to choose from.
Many caterers offer a choice between family style and buffet style food service. Family style is when the waiters and waitresses bring large platters of food to each table, and the dishes are passed around. Buffet style is the oh-so-glorious method of heaping piles of food onto your plate and then coming back up for more! As you can see, buffet style is my personal favorite.
We tried to choose a variety of entrees for our guests, so we had meatballs, chicken, and a roast beef selection. We also had a potato selection and a vegetable medley.
We chose mostaccioli as well, and crackers, cheese, and fresh fruit for our appetizers. As you can see, we tried to select things that would appeal to a variety of tastes, as well as making sure our own favorite dishes were represented!
Once we made our menu selections, the work was in the chef’s hands. The only thing left to do was give a final head count two weeks before the wedding to make sure there would be enough food. We also had several important questions to ask, such as: Did they charge by person or by plate? Did we get to keep the leftovers?
Make sure you ask your caterer these important questions, among any others you can think of. You would be surprised at the caterers that charge by the number of clean plates used rather than the actual number of guests (luckily, not our caterer). Do a search for ‘Things to ask the caterer’ and you will be surprised at what you have never thought to ask!
In my opinion, the best weddings have excellent food. Choose your caterers wisely, and always ask for food samples. If the caterers are proud of their food, they will usually have no problem offering samples to potential clients. And make sure your menu selections include things that you like to eat, just in case you have some time to gulp the food down during your reception!
