My Wedding Gown Accessories on a Budget

Included in my budget for a wedding dress were all the things I would need to go along with it. Collectively, these items can be as expensive as the dress in some cases! I bought the ‘poofy’ slip with my dress, so that was an accessory already taken care of.

I had decided not to wear a veil. I didn’t really have a specific reason, I just didn’t like the idea of wearing one. I still wanted a tiara, so I got one of those for only about twenty dollars. I got white wedding shoes from Payless for about twenty dollars as well.

Of course, I fractured my ankle a few weeks before the wedding, so I couldn’t risk wearing heels. I ended up wearing the white satin slippers my mom had gotten me to throw on at the reception – only I wore them for the ceremony, too.

Finding jewelry was also very easy. I found beautiful earring and necklace sets at an inexpensive store near my home. Each set was only twelve dollars, so I picked the two I liked the best and bought them both. I waited and got the opinions of my mom and my friends before choosing one set. The jewelry looked much more expensive than it was, too!

And finally, I picked out a garter. I got an adorable little pocket garter from Oriental Trading Company’s wedding catalog. It was less than ten dollars! We didn’t do the garter toss, but I still wanted something to have on me to hold on to important things.

The little white garter went around my leg and had a tiny purse attached to it. I kept a mini-deodorant, my license, and lipstick inside.

Luckily, I got away with spending very little on my wedding gown accessories. I don’t feel like I sacrified for quality, either – which makes a bride on a budget very happy!
