My Two Wedding Showers, My Favorite Wedding Events

I was lucky enough to have two wedding showers! My church threw me one, and my maids of honor, mom, and mother-in-law threw me another one.

I have to admit, the church shower was a little awkward for me. My church consisted of several old ladies – I recognized them all, and I was familiar with all of the names, but I just couldn’t match faces with names.

I was paranoid about thanking the wrong lady for a gift. Plus, for budget reasons, a lot of the ladies from church were not invited for the wedding. Luckily, everyone understood that. The church shower committee wanted to throw me a wedding shower anyway.

The church fellowship hall was very nicely decorated, and I got a lot of great gifts. I am really thankful for all those women who planned a lovely dessert shower and bought Brian and me all those presents.

Then there was the shower my maids of honor, mother, and mother-in-law threw for me. This one consisted of all of the female family and friends that were invited to the wedding.

My maids of honor and my mom took care of all of the invitations and food. I got to sit back and wait for the party. They had decided to do a tropical theme, and the results were amazing. Everything about the shower was wonderful: the decorations, the cake, the buffet, and the gifts.

I had a blast, and I loved being the center of attention – except when I had to announce the gifts as I was opening them. I’m not a very loud speaker, and apparently no one could hear my mumbling.

I bought a different outfit for each shower. For the church shower, I just wore dress pants and a dress shirt. But for the family shower, I got the most adorable dress.

Brian also came to both showers, which came in handy when it was time to load all the gifts in the car. I got my thank-you cards written less than a week after each shower, and mailed them in record time.

My wedding showers were one of my favorite wedding events. I didn’t have to do any planning, I got presents, and I was surrounded by loved ones!
