Not Hiring a Wedding Videographer, One of The Few Things That I Would Happily Change

Since we had spent so much money on the photographer, I decided quickly that I did not want to hire a videographer for the wedding. I thought to myself, “How often are we going to sit and watch a video of the wedding?”

My uncle in California wasn’t able to make it to the wedding, so after receiving his invitation he sent a card with a generous monetary gift. He wrote that if I didn’t have a videographer already, then I should put his gift towards a camcorder and have my older brother (a broadcasting arts graduate) make a movie about the big day.

I didn’t follow through with this, and I wish that I would have. Sometimes I even think that I should have hired a videographer. I didn’t see the importance at the time. But now that it’s been a year since the wedding and I’m looking back – I don’t remember much.

No, I wasn’t drunk at the wedding. I only took a few sips of champagne. Yet with all of the excitement and activity, the entire day is a blur to me. Especially the reception - I look at my pictures and think, “I don’t remember that!”

If I could go back, I would do things differently. I would have hired a videographer, or had someone take video of the wedding with my own camcorder. I would love to look back and have memories of my wedding day that are more than just pictures. It’s one of the few things about my wedding that I would happily change.
