I Was Always The Harpist, Never The Bride Until…

Billy and me Hi! My name is Whitney. You’ve always heard the old saying - “Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.” Well, I was always the harpist, never the bride. I’ve played for weddings for over 20 years.

Then one day I met the most perfect man for me. We lived very close to each other, but our paths never seemed to cross. His roommate at the time convinced him to join Yahoo Personals. I had looked every once in a while, but never found much to my liking at all. I even met a few men from the Personals and wasn’t too impressed by any stretch of the imagination.

I wondered if I would be single forever … but then I found Billy. We met in person on November 16, 2004. We went bowling, played air hockey and went to the park. I knew pretty quickly that Billy was the one for me. He understood me, we had the same values … it just seemed right!

We spent time together at least every other day. It seemed hard to imagine life without him. I think that’s key in realizing you found your perfect mate. Fast forward to December 25, 2005, when Billy proposed. It was just me, my mother and him at my mother’s house for Christmas Day. We had opened presents and then Billy got on one knee and popped the question. Of course, I cried … happy tears!!

I finally got to plan my own wedding. The ceremony was less than four months after our engagement on April 8, 2006. I had so many ideas already in my head from all the weddings I had attended that planning was somewhat easy. The wedding did cost us just a little over $2,000 and was very elegant. Many people commented on how our wedding had such a personal touch to it.

My goal is to share with you my wedding planning story - tips on how to plan your wedding quickly and cost effectively. A wedding people will remember, in a good way!
